F. Cawley Award
The
Vermont School Counselor Association nominations for the "Outstanding
Counselor of the Year Award" named in honor of its first
recipient, Jim Cawley. As in the past, nominations for the award
are being requested from the VTSCA membership; with final selection
to be made by representatives on the VTSCA Board of Directors.
The board seeks: To recognize distinguished contributions
to school counseling and to acknowledge and honor those instrumental
in bringing outstanding innovation to the development of counseling
for Vermont youth.

Outstanding
New Counselors Award
Awarded
to a person who has worked as a counselor for under five years,
this awards recognizes the outstanding work and contributions
made to the counseling professional.

This
contest is named after Barbara Bloom, a school counselor who
has tirelessly devoted her time and energy promoting our state
organization for the benefit of counselors and children alike.
The contest is for students who are in elementary, middle school,
and high school. Students should write on the following topic:
“How My School Counselor Helped Me.” Certificates
will be awarded to all participants, and a $50.00 Savings Bond
will be awarded to the winning student in each category!
